Atlantic Subsurface Imaging performed Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) scanning of a garden area beside the School of Visual Arts in New York City. Atlantic was asked to locate a 6' x 6' concrete vault buried between 5' and 9' below grade. When Atlantic arrived, they found that the contractor had already dug along an electrical conduit line which ran the span of the garden. This was unfortunate because it made it nearly impossible to scan the are with ground penetrating radar because of the rough terrain. Various radio detection techniques and some limited radar were used to locate the vault. In he end, it was found that the contracted stopped their digging one foot before discovering the vault.
